its always such a pleasure to see the cannes film festival red carpet. this year definitely hasn't disappointed. the strong blush/nude trend translated perfectly in these stars amazing gowns. from ethereal to modern tailoring,blush defintely brought out the sensual side of these glamorous women. i am particualrly in love with tilda swinton's architectural haider ackermann gown.its very modern and complimented out her flawless alabaster skin.who would've thought that blush could be so striking..

there's something about art & fashion fusing together. its always a fabulous surprise..:)..akris' latest fall collection inspired by franz kline's "Painting No. 7" was no exception. kriemler's masterful use of color blocked graphics & patchworking luxurious textiles interpreted kline's work in a sleek, fresh way.his trademark dynamic & comfort chic style of design definitely went perfect with kline's artistic style.black looked so versatile in different fabrics while emerald & shots of tans,purple & fiery orange were simply sublime.if anyone knows how modernism should look,its akris..:)

 a slouchy luxe leather hobo/tote in rich emerald or berry is the perfect  'It bag'..

with his latest spring collection,richard nicoll channeled clouzot's unfinished film, L'enfer . rather a pretentious flick, it did have a rad wardrobe.L'enfer's unique European groovy-chic vibe was perfectly mirrored with its clothes that consist of baby-doll silhouttes mixed up with the 60's era's futurism. hence,mod & simplistic feminine lines permeated throughout nicoll's collection. his use of sheer fabrics & textiles with sheen also brought a romantic & relaxed  feel to his clothes. this is clearly a designer that knows how to marry film & fashion beautifully.

valentino's spring awakening..

florals for spring is definitely not a groundbreaking idea but the duo Piccuoli & Chiuri made it seem like it was a new concept. taking inspiration from the eighteenth century's " age of enlightment ", the light yet tailored silhouettes of their gowns & cocktails echoed the spiritual sentiment of that time. delicate,playful florals in cool blush tones & hints of sky blue sit perfectly on those airy gowns to create a feeling of beautiful  whimsy. the word,pretty, is a huge understatement to this collection. oh spring, i'm so ready for you..:)

jason wu's understated glamour & chic aesthetic reins supreme  with his latest fall collection. asian influences in his tailoring and his choice of fabric  add another dimension to his  beautiful designs. i especially love his chic red sheath dress with a black piping detail.for once,an asian inspired collection did not look tacky nor dated.fur seems to be a major staple in many collections as he also used it with his chic blazers & military inspired parkas never looked so luxurious..:)

in kanye west's world, everything must be visually stimulating & sound inspiring..he constantly pushes the envelope with such finesse. his latest couture line proved all his critics wrong. he's not just a fad, he's an aspiring fashion designer to be reckoned with. granted that i'm a huge fan of his, with his amazing artistry in music, this man does have some fine taste & style. his clever mix of fur & fine leather in tough black w/ hints of warm auburn hues gave dimension to standard clothing staples.experimenting with proportion is usually unflattering but with his dark colour pallette,it looked streamlined & rather polished.i particularly love his exotic leather neck piece & body con sheer fur dress..:)

Oscar glamour...

in a night where glitz & glamour trump what awards season is really about, the stars truly did steal the spotlight.this time,for the right reasons. their stunning and timeless gowns were such a treat to look at.i especially loved gwyneth's modern white tom ford gown.that cape was divine..:)..rooney mara in  givenchy was also mesmerizing..sometimes simplicity & showing restraint in the accessories' department pays off ..let the gown be the main focus..:)

special mention to jessica chastain in mcqueen & cameron diaz in gucci. truly regal..

drop earrings in exotic colors were the main trend on the red carpet..love..:)

we are all so familiar with bottega veneta's exquisite leather bags..always to die for & a must-have if you can actually afford it.but,imagine those beautiful treatments of weaving & fringes translated into chic cocktail dresses..pure genius..tomas maier's incredible manipualtion of different fabrics created fresh silhouettes in lush hues.it was really a young & street savvy collection. gorgeous multi colored heels & drop earrings give these dresses a fresh & alluring appeal altogether.
